Planning the Perfect Family Beach Day in Jeddah
A day at the beach is one of the simple joys of living in Jeddah, but with little ones in tow, a bit of planning goes a long way. The right venue, the right time of day and a well-packed bag can turn a frazzled afternoon into the day everyone talks about for weeks. Here’s how to plan a family beach day that works for every age.
Pick a resort that suits your family
Each of Jeddah’s family resorts has its own personality. Think about what your children love most, whether that’s splashing in a pool, building sandcastles or running around a play area, and what the grown-ups need to relax.
Siyal Resort: space to spread out
In North Obhur, Siyal Resort is designed with families in mind. There’s a private family beach, main swimming pools and a dedicated kids’ pool, along with children’s play areas and family picnic zones. Air-conditioned chalets, a restaurant and café, and complimentary on-site parking make for an easy, unhurried day.

Rixos Obhur Jeddah: a five-star family day
For a touch of luxury, Rixos Obhur Jeddah offers a spacious family beach, multiple swimming pools and the much-loved Rixy Kids Club, where younger guests are kept happily busy. There’s a Teen Club for older children, too. Grown-ups can join the daily yoga and fitness programmes, and a complimentary towel service is included in the pass.
Mangrove Beach Resort: made for little swimmers
Mangrove Beach Resort is a favourite with young families thanks to its kids’ pool with water slides. Add sea-swimming areas, beach volleyball, changing rooms and showers, and lunch at the Chef Beach restaurant, and you have a lively, sociable day by the water.
Kona Marine Sport Club: peace of mind by the sea
For confident swimmers and budding adventurers, Kona Marine Sport Club has professional lifeguards on duty, safe swimming zones and a first-aid station, alongside a marine sports centre with guided activities for different skill levels.
Shades Beach Club: an easy-going all-rounder
On the shores of Durrat Al Arous, Shades Beach Club is a spacious, family-friendly venue with waterfront seating, padel courts, a gaming room and regular live entertainment. It’s a good choice when every generation wants something different from the day.

Timing is everything
The Jeddah sun is at its strongest in the middle of the day. If you can, arrive in the morning while it’s cooler, settle into a shady spot and plan pool time around a long, leisurely lunch. Late afternoons are lovely, too, as the light softens over the Red Sea. Build in a quiet hour after lunch, too: little ones recharge, and you get a chance to enjoy the view.
Before you set your heart on a date, check the booking calendar: family days are shown in teal with a family icon. Some family resorts also host ladies-only days, which appear in pink, so choose a teal day if the whole family is coming.
Bringing your maid or nanny
Many families like to bring a helper along, and Beach Pass makes that simple. When you choose your passes you’ll see three types, Adults, Children and Maids, so your nanny or helper has her own pass and is part of your booking from the start, with nothing to sort out at the gate.
Booking a ladies-only day with your helper?
On ladies-only days, all adult guests, including maids, must be women. You’ll be asked to confirm this when you book.
The best family beach days aren’t the busiest ones. They’re the days when everyone, grown-ups included, gets a moment to switch off.
The family beach bag checklist
- High-SPF, reef-friendly sunscreen, reapplied every couple of hours
- Hats, sunglasses and UV swim tops for the children
- Swim nappies for babies and toddlers
- Plenty of water (every venue has food and drinks on site, so lunch is sorted)
- A change of clothes for everyone, plus a bag for wet swimwear
- Towels, unless your venue provides them
- Buckets, spades and a favourite toy for the journey home
